PRO8 steps up arrest of wanted persons

CAMP SEC. RUPERTO K. KANGLEON, Palo, Leyte  –  Police Regional Office 8 line units stepped up their campaign against most wanted criminals in the region following directives from its top official to initiate a sustained and intensified campaign against wanted persons.

According to PRO8 Director PCSupt Elmer Ragadio Soria, the massive campaign against wanted criminals as ordered by PNP chief PDG Nicanor A. Bartolome has netted 419 wanted men in Eastern Visayas since he assumed office on August 6 to date alone.

“There is an ongoing all-out effort by our men to account wanted criminals as part of our priority program in the implementation of Manhunt: Charlie,” said Soria, adding that this police operational focus and priority concerns is in relation to the 10-Point Action plan of the Chief, PNP.

“This is basically anchored on the belief that one criminal off the street accords citizens with sound sleep”, the Regional Director said as he announced that 12 more wanted criminals were arrested by his men over the weekend while the other one was neutralized when he shoot it out with police authorities.

On October 14, in Brgy 54, Magallanes, Tacloban City, elements of Police Station 1, Tacloban City Police Office led by SP04 Eliseo Del Rosario arrested one Rodrigo Samson y Violen, by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of Frustrated Murder docketed under Criminal Case No. 2012-09-517 issued by Honorable Rogelio C Sescon, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 9, Tacloban City.

Arrested murder suspect Nestor Udtohan alias Nono arrested by Regional Special Operations Group 8 (RSOG8) and Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB8) at the hinterlands of Brgy Hetibak, Gandara, Samar.

At about 5:00 o’clock in the morning of October 13, elements of Matag-ob Police Station led by Police Senior Inspector Maturino Diaz, Jr. arrested one Silverino Rota y Aseo alias “Yanong”, resident of Sitio Balanak, Barangay Balagtas, Matag-ob, Leyte by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of Rape docketed under Criminal Case No. 7534-0 and 7536-0 with no bail recommended issued by Honorable Apolinario M Buaya, Presiding Judge RTC Branch 12, Ormoc City. Said person is ranked number 10 in the list of Most Wanted Persons of Matag-ob, Leyte.

On October 12, in Brgy Hetibak, Gandara, Samar, joint elements of Regional Special Operations Group 8 (RSOG8) led by Police Inspector Constantino Jabonete and Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB8) led by Police Inspector Garry Tungala arrested one Nestor Udtohan alias “Nono”, by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Murder docketed under Criminal Case No. 02-00-90 issued by Honorable Rosario Bandal, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 41, Calbayog City.

On October 11, elements of Ormoc City Police Office led by Police Senior Superintendent Elizar Egloso, City Director, proceeded at Brgy. Hinagbu-an, Palompon, Leyte to serve the Warrant of Arrest against one Charito Doring Alquino, for the crime of Murder docketed under Criminal Case No. R-ORM-08-00098-BC issued by Hon Judge Apolinario Buaya of RTC Branch 35, Ormoc City. The team stake out at the vicinity until the suspect arrived at about 7:00 o’clock in the evening. Police Chief Inspector Ibrahim Jambiran and PO2 Hydie Yutrago accosted the suspect and introduced themselves as police officers. However, suspect immediately drew his caliber .38 revolver and shot Police Chief Inspector Jambiran but missed. Jambiran returned fire hitting the victim several times on the different parts of his body who still was able to run a few meters and stumble on the ground. Suspect was immediately brought to Palompon Hospital but declared Dead on Arrival by the attending physician. Subject is ranked number 6 in the list of Most Wanted Persons in Ormoc City.

On the same date at Brgy. Dapdap, Dolores, Eastern Samar, police team led by Police Chief Inspector Dionesio Maestre, arrested one Noe Abeque y Balagbis, by virtue of arrest warrant for the crime of Murder docketed under Criminal Case No. 417-11-08 issued by Hon Filotea M Estorninos, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 4, Dolores, Eastern Samar dated September 06, 2012.

On October 10, joint elements of Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte and Duero Police Station conducted manhunt operation at Duero, Bohol which resulted to the arrest of one Rodrigo O Roble, of Brgy. Maanyag, Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Rape in relation to RA 7610 docketed under Criminal Case No. 12-04-3732 with no bail recommended issued by Hon Judge Bethany Kapili, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 24, Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Said arrested person ranked Number 9 in the list of Most Wanted Persons in the Municipality of Tomas Oppus.

Also on October 10, 2012, at Brgy Cantao-an, Paranas, Samar, elements of Paranas Police Station led by Police Chief Inspector Doughlas Antonio Eloja, arrested one Roman Babael y Dacula, by virtue of arrest warrant for the crime of two (2) counts Frustrated Homicide docketed under criminal case numbers 4826 and 4844 issued by Hon Sibanah E Usman, Presiding Judge of RTC, Branch 28, Catbalogan City, Samar with recommended bail bond of P200,000.00 and P24,000.00, respectively.

Also on October 10, at Brgy Villa Hermosa, Oriental, Pagsanghan, Samar, elements of Pagsanghan Police Station led by Police Inspector Oscar Pagulayan, arrested one Rowel Acidello y Oliva alias “Rowing”, by virtue of arrest warrant for the crime of Frustrated Homicide docketed under Criminal Case number T-175, issued by Hon Esteban V Dela Peña, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 40, Tarangnan, Samar.

At about 2:35 PM of same date, at Brgy Villa Hermosa, Occidental, Pagsanghan, Samar, same police team also arrested one Odelon Del Rosario y Soliva alias “Odie”, by virtue of warrant for the crime of Acts of Lasciviousness docketed under criminal case number T-174 issued by Hon. Esteban V Dela Peña, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 40, Tarangnan, Samar.

At about 4:00 PM of October 9, one Reamboy Boloy y Condes, was arrested by elements of City Public Safety Company of Ormoc City Police Office and turned-over to Palo Police Station. He was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Hon Alphinor C Serrano, Presiding Judge of RTC Br 6, Tacloban City for the crime of Murder docketed under criminal case 2012-08-463 with no bail recommended.

At about 11:00 PM on October 9, at Brgy San Roque, Tanauan, Leyte, elements of Tanauan Police Station led by Police Chief Inspector Eduardo Esmero, arrested one Jovani Llyod Vasquez, by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Robbery docketed under criminal case number 2012-07-408 issued by Hon. Rogelio Sescon, Presiding Judge of RTC, Branch 9, Tacloban City.

At the outskirts of Brgy Mabini, Daram Samar, joint elements of Regional Special Operation Group 8 led by Police Inspector Constantino Jabonete, Jr, and 2nd Company of Regional Public Safety Battalion 8 led by Police Senior Inspector Shyrile Sy Tan apprehended Rodrigo Abella y Abia alias Junior Abella/Onyot/Jr., and Reynaldo Abella y Abia alias Johnrey Abella/Aya, both are ranked 2nd and 3rd Most Wanted Persons of Daram by virtue of Warrant of Arrest docketed under Criminal Case Number 6478-4-3-07 of the crime of Murder issued by Honorable Judge Sibanah Usman of the Regional Trial Court Branch 28, Catbalogan City with no bail recommended for their temporary liberty.

Soria showed appreciation to the informants for their courage and cooperation with the police leading the PNP to arrest the wanted persons and put them behind bars.
