The Babae para sa Kaunlaran (BABAE KA) women's party-list would like to express our gratitude to those who supported, campaigned and voted for the organization, as well as to those who in one way or another sympathized with us during the most trying times of the campaign.

We could say that it is a campaign filled with unexpected challenges. From the start we knew that it would be difficult for us to gather the number of votes needed for a partylist to achieve its electoral objective especially given our meager resources compared to other groups. But still we persist. We dared to campaign in the hope that it will be a principled one -- a campaign based on programs and platforms and not on the number of posters, streamers and media advertisements.

However, we find out that it is more than that.

During the party-list campaign, mudslinging and black propaganda prevailed perpetrated by those party-list groups in power. We never expected those leftist organizations to result to dirty tricks, lies, deceit and harassment but they did.

The results of the party-list election and the ongoing drama wherein various organizations have been accused of vote padding are proofs that all the so-called charges against BABAE KA are fabricated by those with malicious and self-serving motives. BABAE KA has been vindicated.

On the other hand, our issues against these organizations are true and would be proven, if the COMELEC will not give in to pressures from these leftists.

To date, BABAE KA officers are still being harassed thru text messages. But as what we have stated, BABAE KA will never be cowed by the bullying tactics of these leftist organizations.

The experience in 2007 party-list election will serve as a valuable lesson for BABAE KA. We shall come back stronger, better and much more prepared in 2010.

I am sad with the outcome of the last elections in Samar! really sad. Walang pinagbago. The same people, same family vying for the different posts.

Mga Tan, Figueroa, Bolastig, Uy, etc.. kelan pa ba sa pwesto ang mga taong ito? for as long as i can remember nasa pulitika na ang mga tao na ito. Let us try asking ordinary farmers or fisherfolks what changes these political families have brought to their lives. Lumaki ba ang kanilang income? Nag-increase ba ang kanilang access sa social services (health and education for example)? nung manalo ba ang mga taong ito e bumalik ba para sila ay kunsultahin sa mga importanteng polisiya o programa at hindi lang dahil fiesta at kailangan nilang magyabang at magpaulan ng pera sa sayawan?

These people are ruining Samar. Pinamamahalaan nila ang mga pwesto sa gobyerno na parang family business nila ito. They do not deserve to be called Samarnons. Hindi nila mahal ang Samar. Mahal lang nila ang mga sarili nila.

Minsan di na masarap abangan ang resulta ng eleksyon kasi sino naman manalo ganun ang gagawin. Now they have three years again to enrich themselves again. How pathetic!

With all due respect to Ana of Calbayog, her call to support a fellow Samarnon's dream to become a party-list congresswoman while laudable is another example of the "barriotic" practice of our politics. We should not support Babae Ka because the number 1 nominee is a waray but because we suppport the advocacy of Babae Ka, which I believe is women empowerment. The "tayo-tayo" and "padrino" systems in our society are reasons why we continue to support imbecile politicians just because they are our relatives or kababayans. My hope is for us to rise above personalities and focus on issues. Don't get me wrong though that Babae Ka is not worth our vote but if you believe in empowering the marginalized women of our society and you trust that Babae Ka will advance that cause then I encourage you to vote for Babae Ka. Maybe, Babae Ka is a better option to Abanse Pinay, another party-list espousing women's rights and welfare.

Another regional party-list representing the waray-warays is An Waray headed by Cong. Noel. We can probably probe if he has done something to uplift the lives of the people he hoped to represent in congress. If he has not done anything at all, then it would probably be better to chose other party-lists that truly work for the good of society. Election times, after all, are grading periods for politicians. To those who excelled, we can give them 3 more years in the halls of congress. To those who failed, we can give them 3 years of absence from the political limelight.

Dear Mr. Gaspay,

This is with reference to an article published in your Insight Section dated March 20 (ANAD deception and military fabrication), which we believe was sent to you by KATUNGOD-SB-KARAPATAN. We would like to take exception to their allegation that:

1. ANAD is a creation and supported by the military and government.  This is an old black propaganda issue that they, e.g. all Maoist communist sectoral front organization to include Karapatan and Katungod-SB. In fact, Karapatan, where Katungod-SB is one of their nationwide stooges, is deeply covering for all the atrocities of the Maoist communist CPP-NPA-NDF. But allow me to point out that for the last 20 years or so, ANAD has been waging a nationwide peaceful education campaign to instill awareness on the Filipinos that Maoist communism, which KARAPATAN and KATUNGOD-SB has long espoused is a Godless, violent, and inhuman ideology. On the issue that we are a creation of government, suffice it to say that if indeed we are fronting for the government, ANAD should have made it to Congress during the May 10, 2004 elections. However, ANAD is not on a quid pro-quo to stand side by side with the AFP and PNP in confronting, opposing, and exposing the evils of communism even within the hallowed halls of the Congress, if given the mandate by the Filipino people.

2. KATUNGOD-SB-KARAPATAN real character. This organization clearly reflects the wisdom and intentions of the Maoist communist-terrorist leadership as it constantly mouth what Jose Ma. Sison, Luis Jalandoni, Gregorio Rosal aka Ka Roger, and the philandeering Roman Catholic priest Fr. Santiago "Sonny" Salas, the leader of the EVRC-NDF. The Samareños never heard them fight for helpless Filipinos who were butchered by the Maoist communist-terrorists since time immemorial. They stood by their deafening silence when government security forces, through the initiative and information of the victims relatives and families, discovered the Inopacan mass graves and the recent mass grave site in Hilongos, and other areas in the Philippines. They said nothing on the Maoist communist's extortion activities that has caused untold miseries on our helpless folks who continue to wallow in the hinterlands under the pains of being killed by the NPAs. What then is the definition of Human Rights does Katungod-SB-Karapatan have in these incidents? They are masquerading as protectors of the underprivileged Filipinos when in truth an fact, they themselves don't believe in human rights. These organizations control and stifle the rights of every individual even if one is a part of their demonic organization. Clearly theirs is bias and out to protect/preserve the purveyors of the Godless, inhuman, and violent ideology.

3. ANAD'S USE OF THEIR NAME IN THE PLACARDS. This is a sweeping accusation against ANAD. While we are aware that (dis)Honorable Satur Ocampo is a criminal and must pay for his crimes against humanity, we do not stoop down to the kind of propaganda gimmick that only Maoist communist sectoral front organizations, e.g. Bayan Muna, Gabriela, Karapatan, Anak Pawis, and others have skillfully mastered and have expertly woven throughout the Filipino community, both within the country and those in foreign lands. Our track record would show that we go all out open, in various media forms, to expose, oppose, and confront Maoist communist CPP-NPA-NDF and all of its sectoral front stooges. We never conduct ourselves in the same manner as those being done by Maoist communist sectoral front organizations, especially KATUNGOD-SB-KARAPATAN.

I hope that this statement will find its way in your newspapers pages to put to rest the propaganda gimmicks and all forms of manipulations frantically employed by the Maoist communist front organization - KATUNGOD-SB-KARAPATAN; and to correct the malicious labelings that they normally do against ANAD.
