It was learned during a meeting called by LIDEF together with the SOYMPH medical staff with Provincial Health Officer Dr. Joselito Trumata and the provincial government representative Executive Assistant Esledo Hernandez.

The surgical team coming from Manila is headed by Sister Eva Maamo and the Our Lady of Peace Foundation, where at least thirty doctors, nurses and medical staff were expected to join in the mission.

While Dr. Trumata also pledged additional surgeon manpower coming from the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City to augment the surgical team.

Mercado urged all those who needs surgical operations such as hernia, goiter, cataract, cyst, cleft, terridium, myoma, among others, to avail of the free operations and medicines, as well.

She further advised those who wish to take advantage of the free operations to first submit themselves to their respective Municipal Health Officers for the initial screening. However, a surgeon will conduct another screening at the provincial hospital for those recommended from the municipal health offices.
