Recently there has been numerous killings of political supporters(Kagayan)in small barangays for someones political agenda. My brother in law and his freind were being targeted because they are supporters of the National Party in his barungay. The other supporter has already been murdered by a single gunshot to the head while he was standing in the street at night watching a neighbors TV leaving behind a wife and two children. In the next barungay over there has also been two people murdered as part of the same agenda. This is a distance of less than a half mile apart. Three barungay away from his town there were three more people murdered in one night two days ago. I've gotten my brother in law and his wife out of the area for their safety since this started. The news that I'm getting from relatives is that there has been more than 80 people killed. Men that are straingers to the towns are asking locals for information and asking for people by name. THese people were wearing jackets to presumably conceal their weapons. If you know Samar this time of year normal people don't wear a jacket because its to hot. People are being targeted. I'm told that they are hired goons sent to kill these supporters because their party lost the elections. The people in these towns don't go to the police because they don't know who to trust and are afraid of retaliation or being targeted themselves. We hear in the news about high profile killings in other parts of the Philippines but the news never gets out about the killings behind the scenes in small rural villages being dictated by peple in power for money or political retrobution. Who is there to help these poor people. These people being targeted are the little fish in the pond. No real power just people trying to be leaders in thier small communities. Lookd to me that somebody just wants them out of the way and the government isn't soing anything about it.
