The flag is our national symbol. If you are a true Filipino, you are supposed to be respectful and loyal to it. You do not desecrate or mutilate your flag. Schools and government offices hold their flag ceremonies to instill the spirit of patriotism in students and employees. Even passersby stop and put their hands on their chests to show respect. When I was in the grades, two of my friends and I rushed to the school flagpole to bring the flag down as it was starting to rain hard. We didn't want to get our flag wet. That's how we were trained and brought up. You show allegiance to your country by respecting your flag. You do not turn your back and reduce that venerable piece of cloth to ashes. If your allegiance is towards Communism, by all means go to Russia or Red China, and never come back.
