The real reason why the Phils has a rice shortage is not because farmers are getting killed (doesn't matter by who) but rather because they have become complacent and lazy. When a developer comes along and makes a decent offer for their land, they decide to sell and enjoy a comfortable life, forgetting the only livelihood that they are familiar with. When a farmer's child or children finish their schooling and get a degree, he quits farming altogether because his children are already professionals. He'd rather go to the cockpit and engage in the Pinoy's favorite pastime - sabong! But the proceeds from the sale of his land would not last long - the money would be gone in a heartbeat. You're right, the now penniless farmer will not go back to farming - nakatikim na ng masarap na buhay, bakit pa? This is the sad story about our farmers. They have tasted the good life, why bother to get their hands dirty and break their backs toiling the fields all day long. Kaya ikaw, Mr. NPA CPP BS or whatever, please change your theory about the rice shortage because of farmers being killed. Those deaths are just collateral damage from a senseless war that you and your amigos have been foolishly waging. Time to wake up, my friend!
