Available resources aside. The cost of moving the capital is just exorbitant as in way over the top. Tacloban will soon be a large municipality with its population of 217,000. I just think it is a major slap in the face to the people of Region 8 to now move the capital. Financially is is the stupidest thing we could do. I will tell you that there currently is not a Mayor or Congress man or woman in all of Leyte that will support a moving of the Capital. Should it happen the bad "political blood" and more than likely outright bloodshed it will create is just not worth the growing pains. We need to use our finances wisely and mark my word the cost of moving the capital will exceed 18 billion pesos. There will be a transitional period where we Will have dual services for a while that will double the financial costs for at least 1 year possibly 2 or more knowing just how well we DO NOT get things done right the first time. My honest thoughts are it just is not the right thing to do at all. Those of you that think spending huge amounts of money to establish a new Capital with all of its functions and resources is a bright idea... PLEASE tell that to the people that will not get health care, irrigation and have to travel much further to conduct provincial business over roads that lead a lot to be desired that should have been fixed long ago because someone was preserving their resources for when they were needed in the future. This in my opinion is the most backward thinking thing we could do and oddly enough because it is backward thinking, it more than likely will happen because is something we seem to specialize in doing often. I will predict it will cause so much discourse that either there will be an eventual regional split where there are 2 regions or they move back to Tacloban after the face causing yet another outrageous start over cost.
