        We wish you the best as your prepare for the Basaynon Katig-uban gathering in Metro Manila, if only we could join you.  But at the same time, I'm glad that Basaynons are getting together, not only to celebrate but also to consider helping the less fortunate in our beloved hometown.  The Basaynon Katig-uban USA-Canada will be holding its fiesta in Chicago, from Aug. 13-15.  Amado Gad is the hermano mayor this year and aside from the fun and excitement generation generated by events such as this, we will also be setting aside some time after the fiesta to sit down and come up with a plan of action for the coming year, with emphasis on projects that benefit our hometown.

        A very good friend of mine, Janine Sylvestre from the island of Belize has been finding a way to reach Elizabeth Oropesa. My friend Janine Sylvestre from the Belize Islands had a close friendship with Elizabeth Oropesa while she was still living in Taiwan with her two children.
        My friend was under the impression that Elizabeth Oropesa passed away because of the last letter my friend received from her which mentioned that Elizabeth was sick. But as I did a search , apparently Elizabeth ran in the recent elections of 2004 for vice governor.

Dear Fellow Pangpanganons,

Welcome Home!
       What better reason to come home than a celebration?  On Monday, August 16, 2004, all alumni of Pangpang Elementary School (PES) are invited for the grand reunion of the year. This is the day to come back to campus… why not set your class in motion?!
       The first Alumni Homecoming 2004 will synchronize a day prior to the Barangay Pangpang Annual Fiesta, which is scheduled on August 17 and 18, 2004. This is a great opportunity to reunite with your love ones back home, relive old memories and create some new ones. It will be another occasion to renew friendships, camaraderie and the fraternal bonds that unify the Pangpanganons and a time for reminiscence of old school days. Come see what’s changed, what’s grown, and what’s stayed the same.
       The quality and strength of a school rely to a great degree on the continued support and involvement of its alumni constituency.
       The registration fee for the first PES Grand Alumni Homecoming is FREE. However, alumni potluck is required from each participating class and each batch will have to provide for their own drinks (soft & hard). All will share foods that are brought to the alumni banquet.
        There will be a parade during the alumni homecoming day and on the Vesper Day of Pangpang Annual Fiesta in honor of Sr. San Roque. Each class should have “arko” with Muse and Escort and any entertaining presentation.
        The organizers are planning of printing T-shirts in different colors and the writing will read as “PES Grand Alumni Homecoming 2004” to be printed at the back and, for instance, “Batch 1980” to be printed at the front.
        We, the Pangpanganons Overseas Filipino Workers in Saudi Arabia, will contribute to shoulder the expenses for the sound system.  However, souvenir program that consist of participants’ picture, donors, advertisers and the Barangay Fiesta program of activities, refreshment for the presidential table and decoration shall be arranged by the organizers.
        Generous groups or individuals are welcome to donate in kind or cash in favor of Pangpang Elementary School. All donors will be printed in the souvenir program and will also be announced during the donation dance.
        Please note that Souvenir Program will be printed in Saudi Arabia on the 1st week of July 2004. All registrations, donations and advertisements should be received by the above contacts not later than June 30, 2004. After this period, all entries intended for the souvenir program will not be printed.
        The date has been set. The plans are underway. Be part of this historic gathering. For this to happen, your motherland and your Alma Mater needs you to be there. Please “come on home” for the reunion.
