Completion of the Catbalogan Domestic Airport would greatly enhance travel, business, communications and trade in Catbalogan and the rest of Samar province. The "construction" of this airport has been shamely going on at a snail's pace for over 40 years! It's about time it is completed and operational for the betterment of all Samarnons. I hope and pray that our Samar leaders - from Congressman Catalino Figueroa, to Gov. Mila Tan and Catbalogan Mayor Coefredo "Tekwa" Uy – are listening and doing something to expedite its completion for commercial flights.

Laborer replied:  My friend, Congressman Figueroa visited the Palace and requested funding for Samar roads and The Catbalogan Domestic Airport in Buri, Catbalogan. PGMA has granted an initial P20-M for the initial implementation of said airport maybe next year. Planning on papers, is now taking place. Previously, as far as I can remember, this solon is the key initiator of this airport project but has put in a stalement when he lost his career last year. Now, that he is back, he boldly announced that he is determined to finish this before his term ends.

The Waray-Waray Association of Tidewater (WWAT), a newly-formed organization whose members come from the Waray-Waray speaking islands of Samar, Leyte and Biliran, will be holding its 1st Inaugural Dinner and Ball on July 15, 2006 at the Chesapeake Conference Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Tidewater, also known as Hampton Roads is comprised of the cities of Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth and Suffolk. There are over 45,000 Filipino-American residents in the Tidewater area.

In this connection, we will be making a souvenir program for the event. Substance is far more important than form!

I agree with the observation of Mr. Morales.

Likewise, I pity the Samarnons for having such kind of politicians that uses his political connections for his personal means. Really, if we will look deeper into the situation in Western Samar we will find so many rich politicians and yet we will also find a great number of poor people.

I still do remember these greedy politicians using their 'impeachment votes' to gain their personal interest of pulling out a very competent and dedicated public servant in the person of Army General Jovito Palparan....

The election period is near... the people's power to choose their would-be leaders will be again put to a test. Will it be for a small amount of money in exchange for your vote, or a vote for a person capable of alleviating the poor plight of the people in the province?

Ref. Comments about Mr. Rutor's Article

It's hilarious to think that Filipinos are so critical about spellings. Ok we've been brought up to be educated, but why can't we just use simple words so that everyone can understand what is being talked about. Look at the British, their campaign is to use 'Simple English'.  Mr. Rutor made a few simple errors. Just like anyone of us can make. But why can't we just understand the whole essence of the story instead of nit-picking.

Bear in mind that we only spell certain words the way they are because of American influence.  Would you spell honor or honour? Color or colour? Would you say rubbish or garbage? Oh! who cares....maybe Mr. Rutor had a few drinks that time he was writing the article. Mr. Rutor I can vouch is a very clever man.  A few misspelt words doesn't make him any less man than what I think he is.
